Sophie wanted a modern and sophisticated wedding day look but with an ethereal quality to it, her main influence was Titania from A Midsummer Night’s Dream. She wore a Charlie Brear gown to cover her pregnancy bump and didn’t want to look or feel Mumsy, we gave her an loose, boho chignon with flowers and a soft, natural, glowing makeup for her wedding day at Christchurch Cathedral, Oxford.
We played with some braids and a heavier smokey eye during Sophie’s trial but we agreed the eyes were a little heavy ( she wanted something more radiant and forgiving ). The morning I arrived she hadn’t slept much at all the night before so I recommended she run a hot bath and rest. Post bath I gave her a calming facial massage with Embryolisse ( you need to check products with oils and certain vitamins in when pregnant) and applied some cooling eye gel cream. ( I gave her a cooling eye mask to take home and use post baby, I didn’t want to provoke a reaction incase her hormones didn’t like it! )
I used a colour palette of soft peaches, warm taupes and a sheer brightening lipstick instead of anything too heavy. I wanted her makeup look to feel and be visually effortless. Sophie’s headpiece is a mixture of wax flowers and a beautiful metal piece from a boutique. I mixed the two together for a flawless combination.
A beautiful chignon. Twisted, pinned, lots of volume. Luckily Sophie’s ‘ pregnancy hair’ had kicked in. It was thicker, more bountiful and responded beautifully to hot rollers and tongs.
I gave Sophie’s Mum the quickest French roll I’ve ever done in my life! I had 5 minutes to spare so put some heat and texture spray though it, back combed the crown, pinned, twisted and pinned again and attached her pill box. She was VERY pleased with the result and was shocked at how quickly I managed it!
