Lucy wanted a natural looking completely flawless looking makeup to enhance her freckles rather than hide them for her Morden Hall Wedding. Her perfect wedding hair was loose, effortless and she wanted her chosen style adorned with flowers.
Lucy had 4 trials! Lucy’s first trial was almost perfect but she wanted to toy with the idea of having super short hair so a week or so after her first trial she had it all cut off. We spent her second trial styling it into kinky summer waves. It looked VERY ‘cool modern bride’ but we decided that as it was so fine it would probably not be able to support itself if it rained or was windy.
Lucy’s third trial was when her hair had grown out. I applied her makeup a little lighter on the eyes and we experimented with the same hair style but added too much volume for her liking. For her fourth and final trial I really wanted to nail her look. I remember being so nervous in the run up to my own wedding day with certain things and remembered certain suppliers not seeming all that bothered. I really wanted to ensure Lucy was totally chuffed, excited and emotionally settled with everything, so three days before the wedding she came over to my home for a coffee and we worked on her final look.
And it was the one that stuck! Everything down to the parting was perfect. Her colouring had slightly changed again ( her first trial took place in late September/ early October of last year so she was sun kissed, the rest were in Winter/ Spring so her skin tone was paler than before ) so we worked with it. We did away with the smokey detail on her lower lashes as she wasn’t keen on it after wearing it for a while. We also didn’t use mascara as she felt more comfortable with some carefully applied lashes and an eyeliner sealant.
Her hair was set with rollers and the roots straightened out as we didn’t like the shape at the crown the rollers gave. It was swept and casually knotted to one side. Effortlessly adorned with roses and smaller flowers provide by Flowers by Eve.
Lucy’s bridesmaid Liv wanted her long hair given volume and swept off her face. She also wanted a hair style with plait detail. I used a fishtail plait, twisted back on itself and pinned some roses in it last minute to tie everything together. I prepped blemished skin with CoverFX’s calming primer and covered with my RCMA palette and Dermacolour tattoo coverage concealers. These give a lovely matte finish, are protective, calming, full coverage without looking it and great for sensitive skins too. We curled her amazing lashes and complimented everything with a natural cut crease and blusher.
Sarah’s hair look was super simple. I blow dried it and set her fringe with a velcro roller to keep it’s Oomph- Lucy’s wedding day was a very humid one! I then twisted the sides back to keep her very thick bob away from her face and finished with flowers like I did Liv’s. Protecting their hair was Mark Hill’s Anti- Humidity Spray. Amazing for fly aways and keeping everything smooth and glossy! Although initially requesting a more complicated look, Sarah’s skin and eyes were so beyond pretty and luminous I colour corrected redness and gave her a light coverage using Bobbi Brown Tinted Moisturiser and Kiehls’ BB Cream. She was also worried at the start of the season I may not have a foundation pale enough for her. This is a common worry for any lady that sits in my chair, as soon as I show them my extensive foundation range it sets their minds at ease! I added a hint of peach powder blusher and loaded her lashes with mascara to really make her eyes pop. Illuminating loose powders by Barry M and Kiko Milano tied the colours of the dresses in and truly made her eyes look incredible.
Lucy’s Mum, Jayne also wanted ‘ something with a curl and maybe a half up half down’. After meeting her and seeing her character in person I actually really loved her hair with body and movement rather than a curl and so did she! We turned her crazy frizzy red hair into a sophisticated sleeked perfect Mother of the Bride ‘do. She had brought some beautiful clips to accessorise with so I pulled one side back and swept her fringe off her face. Gorgeous skin and eyes need showing off! She looked modern, cool and elegant.
Jayne’s makeup was bronzed to suit her beautiful glow and we added a shimmery pinky lipstick to match her hair. So many Mums I find never curl their lashes?! Jayne was shocked when I curled hers at how long they were. They truly open up the face.
