Carly and I have known each other a long time. Our mums have worked together since I was 11. When Carly started to look for a wedding hair and makeup artist for her Essex Barn wedding she decided she couldn’t trust anyone but me to do it.
Originally Carly wanted her hair in a half up half down style. We tried a Bardot inspired version during her first trial and as lovely as it was we decided it was hiding so much of her face and would hide a lot of her dress. We then tried it up in a bun with various finishes. By the second trial she bought her daughter along to help her decide. This chic, bridal plait knot won.
Beautiful little Lily had a french plait, inspired by her Mum’s gorgeous and chic plait knot chignon.
Carly’s bridal party also wanted hair and makeup. I gave Maid of Honour Becky a blow dry hair and set her blonde bob into modern, cool waves. For makeup and skin I used some tinted moisturiser with an SPF, enhanced her natural glow with bronzers and gave her some smokey definition on her eyes.
Daughter Lily had the aforementioned french plait to keep her hair off her face when she played during the day and a flower crown, we also used some NYX Cosmetics Shimmer for her cheek bones and some tinted lip balm to help her feel really special.
Jan, Carly’s wonderful Mum had a full on skincare pamper; bespoke exfoliation, natural but correcting cancer scar coverage, and bronzed glow. We also used some neutrals on her eyes to help them pop and finished with a tinted lip balm.
