Emma and I met online as she lives in New York! She explained her love of the 1930’s Jazz era, and New York style speak easy’s and wanted those elements to be part of her hair and makeup. We considered marcel waves very briefly but she decided she wanted something more red carpet and less replica.
During her trial we played with her hair down which looked beyond gorgeous. I was so lucky, I had layers of thick Auburn hair to play with! We then added a matte red lipstick. Her eyes just popped. We also found a beautiful hair style Kate Winslet had worn to an Oscars ceremony years ago and we decided we should go for that for elegant vintage glamour.
Her hair was created using Babyliss rollers and a french plait ‘undercut’ which I used to shape and a secure a nylon donut and her hair over the top. That incredible pillbox is from East Village Hats in New York City, and assistant for that day was hair stylist Louise Leaves.
After wearing a gorgeously bright red lip Emma decided she wanted more of a berry burgundy tone so I tracked down the perfect lipstick by L’Oreal.
Just before Emma’s flight to the UK she got caught up with a cold and that brought on stress eczema around her eyes. I designed her makeup to be very refined and barely there anyway but on the day we only gave her a very fine line of liner in the form of shadow with a sealant. I left out waterproof mascara as I wanted her to be able to take her makeup off later with ease and comfort. I gave her lots of cluster lashes for volume and just the right amount of drama for her. We finished her look with that berry lip, a warm highlighted glow and Bobbi Brown’s Uber Beige ( to compliment her freckles and Auburn tone) and MUFE’s Dark Antique pink blusher ( To bring everything to life).
Emma’s Mum and Sister also had their makeup done, warm coopers and navy’s ensured they had their make up look of dreams, Lou had the pleasure of styling their hair to perfection.
