Gorgeous Grace and I met in Clapham over cocktails with her Bridesmaid Mel. We discussed her love of Gwen Stefani and Marlene Dietrich inspired wedding hair and makeup. She wanted something glamorous but cool to compliment her eclectic wedding venues- St Pancras Renaissance Hotel, Islington Town Hall and Bloomsbury Lanes.
Grace’s hair look was a mixture of a few different styles she liked. She loved the idea of a curly mohawk/ quiff. She also liked the look of tribal and heavy metal inspired braids. Definitely a Bride with her own unique sense of style! Then there was the ideal of wanting to tie everything together to complement her vintage style tea dress from Candy Anthony so we scooped her hair up and round at the back into a French roll.
Grace’s Gwen Stefani inspired Makeup look was considerably more straightforward to implement. Grace’s skin was pretty immaculate so we used Bobbi Brown’s Oil Free Tinted Moisturiser with Dermacolour’s Light Concealer palette for under eye discolouration and blemishes. For the colours themselves I used a peach powder blush, a coolish taupe contour and Mac Mineralise highlight with a tan- peach toned contoured eye.
Liz our beautiful Mother of the Bride had super fine hair that was set into rollers, once we’d applied a subtle smokey eye with black, slate grey shimmers and mink colours I back combed her locks into a French roll. How absolutely stunning is she?!
One absolutely gorgeous, proud as punch Bridal party. Grace’s bridesmaids opted for plait detail on one side to echo Grace’s, and waves and body sweeping round to the other. We used complimenting shades for Sarah and Mel rather than the same colours for both as their skin tones and type were so beautifully different.
Massive Marlene Dietrich vibes. Absolutely stunning. Grace’s look was finished with a bright red lip. Prepped with Kryolan’s lip stain in Poppy and finished with Sleek’s Matte Me Liquid lip in Rioja Red.
Every St Pancras Bride needs her Spice Girls Staircase moment!
Such an epically cool couple and an epically cool wedding.
