Kate and I shared stories about our similarly crazy upbringings and speaking without a filter over Pornstar Martinis in The Archduke. I knew she was going to be an epic hair and make up client due to her no faffing, brutal honesty and delightfully hilarious nature. A kind hearted, passionate Bride, wanting to look unashamedly epic for her wedding day in Hampstead.
In my opinion, Kate wanted a perfect mixture of a red carpet and wedding day look. Gorgeously glamorous eye make up, soft, flawless skin and a slightly dishevelled and elegantly detailed up do. We toyed with giving her soft front tendrils or as Kate put it : ” the front ‘annoyance’ ” and then ditched that idea! We ended up sweeping her fringe back into the bun and left out soft wispy tendrils by her ears so they wouldn’t ‘quote’: “piss me off ALL DAY” . I LOVE Kate.
Her mega bestie Jenni was on hand the morning of, from buying croissants and fruit, to coming all the way from Chingford early in the AM for her bestie, to helping pop that GORGEOUS bottle of Laurent Perrier rosé. It seems only fitting I gave her the superglam treatment too! I gave Jenni the most lush of blow dries, taking her frizzy, unruly and wavy hair into a slick, eclectic down do. I popped Babyliss rollers into the ends and kept her fringe in a Denman roller to ensure Oomph and minimal inconvenience.
Being a Mumma of a lovely little curly lady, Jenni mentioned she had very little time for herself, ENTER ALL THE GLAMOUR. A copper/ gold smokey eye and flawlessly bronzed and perfectly concealed skin ensured she felt more gorgeous as she had in ages, not only bringing out her freckles but the blue in her eyes.
Kate opted for a grungy smokey eye with browns, greys and warm silver shimmers to finish. This brought a 1920’s vintage inspired finish up to date.
Kate now has a beautiful extended family of Step- Daughters. Helping them look beautiful and hip as her Bridesmaids was such an honour for me- it’s nerve wracking being in charge of teenagers! I gave them a fresh look of tinted peaches on their eyes, a hint of sparkle and gloss. Whipping Madi’s hair up into a top knot I added fresh Lavender I’d sourced into the side of the bun like an asymmetric headpiece.
Her little sister Maci had a very sensitive scalp. She washed her hair that morning and we softly rough dried it with a tangle teezer, afro comb for sectioning and the Eco Tools Ultimate Air Dryer Hair Brush– perfect for minimal heat damage and faster prep time. From there we sectioned the front of her hair into soft plaits and secured with a tie disguised with gypsophila. A perfect delicate up do for a prancing, dancing fine haired lady.
How utterly perfect!
See what I mean about Kate? Hilarious, warm and beautiful.
